Eyebrows, beards and eyelashes
Facial hair is grown from the skin of the face, like short hair from the scalp. Eyebrows and the mustache are placed with dots on the skin; beards and lashes are grown where they belong and shaped with sliders.

Eyebrows
Press eyebrows on the shelf, or pick a shape in the library's Eyebrows tab. Each brow follows a spine of four dots on the skin: head, body, arch and tail. Drag the dots in Edit to shape the brow; with Symmetry on, the other brow follows.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mirror to the other brow | Copies this brow onto the other, reflected: its dots, numbers, look and colour. A one off copy. |
| Unibrow | Extends the head of the brow toward the middle: 1 meets the other brow. |
| Thickness, Head; thickness, Arch | How tall the brow is at its head and at its arch, in millimetres. |
| Tail taper | How much it narrows from the arch to the tip. |
| Roughness | 0 groomed, every hair in line; 1 untamed. |
| Hair length | In millimetres. |
| Upright | How upright the hairs at the head of the brow stand. |
| Pinch | Upper hairs lean down and lower hairs lean up to meet on the ridge: 1 is a sharp herringbone. |
| Lift | How far the hairs stand off the skin. |
| Hair thickness, Root taper, Tip taper | How each hair is drawn. |
Beards
There are two kinds of beard, and they mix:
- full beard grows the textured beard over the whole lower face, as one groom with parts. Pick its row in the Hair Manager: Part chooses what the sliders edit (beard (all), or one part), and each part has its own painted mask (edit mask), length, bend, gravity, surface, density and grey. Strands and Segments are for the whole groom.
- mustache, chin, jaw and cheeks are styled parts, each its own row in the Hair Manager with the sliders below. The library's Facial hair tab grows them in ready styles.

The mustache sits on five dots along the upper lip. Drag them to say where it grows; the height sliders say how much of the lip it covers. A new style keeps the dots when it covers the same stretch of lip.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Style | The part's style. Picking one restyles it in place and keeps its colours. |
| Length, Angle, Fan, Lean back | How long the hairs are, how they turn, how far they spread from the middle, and how far they lean toward the ears. |
| Curl under, Bend | How each hair curls back toward the skin, and a natural arc with gravity toward its tip. |
| Roughness, Lift | Groomed or untamed, and how far the hairs stand off the skin. |
| Parting | A gap at the middle of the face. |
| Height at the middle, Height at the ends | How tall a mustache is at the philtrum and toward its ends. |
| Droop | The outer ends grow long and straight down: walrus, horseshoe, Fu Manchu. |
| Curled tips, Tip curl, Tip clump, Tip taper | The ends sweep out and curl up into waxed points, like a handlebar. |
| Clumping, Cell size | Hairs gather into bundles, and how wide one bundle is. |
| Hair thickness, Root taper, Tip taper | How each hair is drawn. |
Eyelashes
eyelashes adds the lashes; the library's Eyelashes tab restyles them and keeps their colour. A face has one pair, so a pick always replaces them. Their count, shape and colour are their controls.
Common problems
| What you see | Why | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The brows look doubled on the GNM head | Grown brows over the painted ones. | Thin the grown brows, or lower their density. |
| The mustache covers the lip | Height at the middle is high. | Lower height at the middle, or drag the dots up. |
| A beard part will not show as cards | Cards are made for hairstyles only. | Beards, brows and lashes stay strands. |
