The free character studio. Starting with hair.

Strand grooming used to mean an expensive DCC licence and a long setup. Reblium does it in a browser tab, for free, with nothing to install.

Works with MetaHuman, Unreal Engine, Unity and Blender.

Why Reblium

Artists love the craft. Not the price of doing it properly.

Grooming is real craft, and done well it is beautiful. But proper strand-based hair still means expensive desktop DCC software, a licence that renews every year, and a powerful workstation to run it.

Reblium puts that power in a browser. Open a tab, start grooming, and take the result into the tools you already use.

Available today

Hair you can actually change.

Editable, not baked

Not a frozen asset. A groom you own.

Hair from a marketplace arrives baked: one haircut, take it or leave it. In Reblium you start from a style and change anything. Make it longer, shift the parting, tighten the curl, change the colour. You get the groom itself, not a fixed result.

One groom, two outputs

Strands and hair cards. Both.

Strands and cards are normally two separate pipelines. Here they come from the same groom, so the film version and the game version are always the same haircut.

Long hair with curtain bangs: 1,000,000+ triangles as strands, about 32,000 as cards.

Every style is a starting point, ready to adjust:

Most grooming tools ship one idea of what hair looks like. Afro, coils, locs and braids are in the library because people asked for them.

Works with MetaHuman

Your MetaHuman, in a browser, with custom hair.

The MetaHuman web app closes on 5 November. Reblium reads the same DNA file and runs the real facial rig in a browser tab, so you can groom your character without opening an engine.

  1. In Unreal, choose Export > DCC Export.
  2. Drop the head DNA file into Reblium. It opens with the rig running.
  3. Groom it. The hair binds to the same facial joints Unreal uses, so it moves with the face.
  4. Export the hair back to Unreal, Unity or Blender.

Built on OpenRigLogic, which Epic Games released under the MIT licence. Reblium is not affiliated with or endorsed by Epic Games.

In closed beta

More of the character, coming one piece at a time.

These are built and being tested now. You can see them in the studio and request early access.

Beta

Face generator

Generate a unique realistic face in seconds and turn it into a MetaHuman, no scan needed. Built on Google's open-source GNM Head.

Beta

Cloth simulation

Dress your character and watch the fabric fold and move, right in the browser.

Beta

Prompt 2 Animation

Describe the motion instead of browsing a library. Chain several prompts into one take, then adjust it yourself.

Pricing

Free to make. Pay only when you export.

There are no tiers and no free version versus paid version. Everyone gets the same account and the same tools.

Making, grooming and previewing are free and stay free. Exporting for production uses credits, because exports and storage cost real money to run. You get free credits every month, and you can top up any time.

“I spent years making characters for triple A games, paying for four programs to make one head. So I built the tool I wanted, and put it where anyone can open it.”

Mao Lin Liao, character artist, ex-Guerrilla Games. Reblium is made by one person.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. Designing and grooming are free and stay free. Exports will use credits after the beta, and everyone gets free credits each month. We will announce any change well in advance, and what you already made stays yours.

Is it finished?

No. Reblium is in active beta. Some things will break, and it gets better every week. Tell us what goes wrong and we fix it.

Is this a MetaHuman replacement?

No. MetaHuman makes excellent heads. Reblium works with them and adds what you can't easily do in a browser today, like custom hair.

Can I use what I make commercially?

Yes. Games, film, client work, anything. No royalties and no attribution required.

Do I need a powerful computer?

A recent browser with WebGL 2 and a reasonable graphics card is enough. A laptop works.

Is it open source?

No. Reblium is free to use, but the code is not open source. It is built on open research from Google and Epic Games, credited in the app.

Open a tab and groom a head. It takes about ten seconds.
